What is a Fixed Bridge?
Fixed Bridges are used to fill spaces in the mouth where either one or multiple teeth are missing. It is a non-removable appliance.
Dental bridges are highly durable and stable, lasting you many years. Over time they may need to be replaced or re-cemented due to typical wear and tear.
Your dentist will examine you and discuss the various types of bridges that might be an option for you. The traditional bridge is the most common, and is made using porcelain fused to metal. This bridge would have two crowns that cover the anchoring teeth, and are attached to artificial teeth.
Why Would You need a Fixed Bridge?
There are multiple reasons why your dentist would suggest a fixed bridge, such as to:
- Fill space of missing teeth
- Maintain facial shape
- Prevent remaining teeth from drifting
- Restore chewing ability
- Restore speaking ability
- Restore your smile
- Upgrade from a removable denture appliance
Fixed bridges will typically require multiple visits to your dentist.
Upon completion you will receive full care instructions.
