Dr. Ken Poznikoff,
Dr. Poznikoff is the Owner and a General Dentist at Riverside Dental Clinic.
He has been serving the Drumheller Community for over 30 years and continues to accept new patients.
Dr. Poznikoff graduated from the University of Alberta in 1986 and Holds B.Sc. degrees in both Science and Pharmacy. He has completed numerous educational courses in Orthodontics, Cosmetic Dentistry, Implant Dentistry, and Restorative Dentistry.
Dr. Poznikoff also has hospital privileges at the Drumheller Regional Health Complex and provides surgical procedures and dental rehabilitation under general anesthetic.
His focus is on building long-term relationships where his patients look forward to seeing him and his staff as much as he personally enjoys educating and treating them. He is dedicated to continuing education for general and cosmetic dentistry as well as orthodontics so that he can provide his patients with the most up to date procedures and technology in the dental field.
Dr. Claude Boutin,
Dr. Claude Boutin is a Board Certified Specialist in Orthodontics who operates a specialty orthodontic practice in Calgary, Alberta, and practices at Riverside Dental Clinic as a satellite office.
He completed his dental training at the University of Alberta in 1986 and practiced general dentistry for 3 years in Alberta before enrolling in graduate orthodontic training at the University of Toronto in 1989.
Dr. Boutin holds a Fellowship in the Specialty of Orthodontics with the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is recognized by the Alberta Dental Association as a certified specialist. He strives to remain at the forefront of emerging technologies in orthodontics and attends national meetings and orthodontic conventions every year, as a member of the Canadian Association of Orthodontists, the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists.
Dr. Boutin has been active as an executive member of the Alberta Society of Orthodontists and in facilitating local scientific sessions for the Canadian Association of Orthodontists. He has been invited to lecture at the American Association of Orthodontists largest annual meeting.
Dr. Boutin and his wife Diane are busy raising four children and they feel privileged to support community projects that focus on families, especially ones like the new Alberta Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Benoit Labonne,
Dr. Labonne was born and raised in Dawson Creek, British Columbia. He worked around farms and operated tractors from a young age working around the community. Growing up both him and his brother were known for their sports, where Dr. Labonne was captain of all the men’s sports teams. He also received athlete of the year each year he was in high school.
Dr. Labonne attended Grande Prairie Regional College for 2 years for university transfer credits and completed his Bachelor of Science with a double major in Biochemistry and Biological Sciences at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. In the summers between his academic years, Dr. Labonne worked for Oil and Gas, Forestry, City of Grande Prairie, and a building moving company out in Spruce Grove. He is familiar with Alberta’s industries and communities. He was then accepted and completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery with honours in Cork, Ireland.
During his time at the Cork University Dental Hospital, Dr. Labonne rotated around the many different specialties both in Dentistry and Medicine. He found a special interest in prosthetic rehabilitation, oral medicine, and restorative treatment for his patients. He prides himself on giving his patients all the information to help them with disease prevention and achieve their oral health goals.
Dr. Labonne met Dr. O’Connor while in Ireland. While visiting Canada together, they both enjoyed traveling to Banff and Jasper and kayaking on the lakes. Drumheller was an ideal town to settle in because they both enjoy small town living and also know Jasper/Banff is within travelling distance on weekends. Dr. Labonne enjoys kayaking, fishing, hockey, and basketball. He hopes to make life-long connections in Drumheller by volunteering, buying local, and providing personal care through his clinic.
Dr. Anne Marie O’Connor,
Dr. O’Connor was born and raised in Cork, Ireland to a family of 6 siblings. Her family owns a dairy farm in Ireland and Dr. O’Connor has worked out in the parlour many times to help the family business. She’s excited to be in Canada and would love to learn about Canadian Dairy farming.
Dr. O’Connor was awarded a scholarship and internship to NASA’s prestigious youth astronaut program in Houston Texas, USA while in high school by finishing in first in a national contest in Ireland. Dr. O’Connor also found herself passionate about medicine after her oldest brother and sister were accepted and completed their training as physicians. She went on to job shadow her own dentist and found that Dentistry combined engineering that she was interested in at a young age with medicine which she developed later.
Dr. O’Connor graduated from Cork University Dental Hospital with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. During her time at the dental hospital, she got to rotate around the many specialties both in Dentistry and Medicine. Not only is she technical and precise with her work, Dr. O’Conner’s patients found her chairside manner to be personal and attentive to details. Some are hoping to travel over the Atlantic Ocean to come to see her in Canada for a dental visit.
She met her partner, Dr. Labonne, in Ireland during her Academic pursuit and invited him to work on the dairy farm, and in turn, Dr. Labonne invited Dr. O’Connor to Canada in the summer of 2019. After spending the summer in Canada, Dr. O’Connor really enjoyed how friendly Canadians are and decided she wanted to come back to work as a Dentist after graduating.
On her time off, Dr. O’Connor enjoys squash, hiking, and is a high-performance vehicle enthusiast. She’s excited to be in Drumheller where she wants to make life-long connections with her patients and support the community through volunteering, buying local, and providing personal care through her clinic.
Dr. Choo-Soon Kua,
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon, General Dentist
Dr. Choo-Soon Kua is a Certified Specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, as well as a General Dentist. Dr. Kua was born and raised in Calgary. He received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Calgary in 2008. Dr. Kua obtained his Doctor of Dental Surgery from The University of Western Ontario in 2012.
Following the completion of his doctorate, Dr. Kua practiced general dentistry in Calgary and Bowden Correctional Institution for two years before being accepted into and completing his specialty training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. His residency consisted of rotations in anesthesia, general surgery, otolaryngology, emergency medicine, internal medicine, and critical care medicine. He is trained in all aspects of anesthesia, complex dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, bone grafting, head and neck trauma, orthognathic surgery (corrective jaw surgery), oral and maxillofacial pathology, maxillofacial reconstruction and temporomandibular joint disorders.
During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in New York, Dr. Kua served as a front-line healthcare provider as a Chief Resident mainly providing anesthesia to those affected by the illness. He is glad to return to his hometown as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon serving Alberta. In his spare time, Dr. Kua enjoys running, archery, gaming, keeping up with the latest technology, and spending time with his family.
